The Dog Behind The Books
Meet Machi, a 3 year old Havapoo and a very special part of the Sweet Starts series!

In all “Sweet Starts” books, you’ll find a special little dog making appearances in the background of some of the pages! This adorable pup is inspired by my own dog, Macchiato (Machi for short!), who loves to “help” me in the kitchen—even if his idea of “helping” usually involves eating up any spilled powdered sugar or other ingredients!
Machi is a rescue dog whom we adopted in 2023 from a nearby foster family. He’s a Havapoo, a mix of Miniature Poodle and Havanese, with a big personality and an even bigger heart! He loves exploring outside, playing with his bouncy ball, and snuggling up to watch shows. He’s also a BIG fan of sunbathing and can never get enough Chewy Bones and Greenies!
Machi just turned three this year and weighs just 13 pounds, but he has a very important role as “big brother” to our newborn baby. He’s the perfect mix of protective, gentle, and affectionate, and we couldn’t imagine life without him!
Keep an eye out for Machi in all our books! He’s sure to bring a little extra joy and delight to all of our readers!
